The idea of honoring our fallen heroes with 9 x 3 ft. banners came to Grant Bjorn, who owns a sign installation company, on the Sunday just after Veteran's Day on November 11, 2004. While attending Christ Lutheran's "Beach Church" on the sand that Sunday morning in San Clemente.
The pastor asked, "What can each person do?"
Later, when speaking with two veterans after the service the concept of honoring and celebrating each one of our true heroes by displaying individualized banners filled with large photographs placed on light poles came to him and instantly captured his imagination.
A month later after sharing his "concept drawing" with various family members, friends and acquaintances, he decided to share it with one of his best childhood friends, Robert Pfeiler. Robert was impressed and thrilled and immediately became an enthusiastic ally and partner. He assisted Grant in pushing the vision to a higher level.
Together, Grant and Robert are the simple foundation of a growing team we believe will reach across America. It is our desire in a simple way to unify the red and the blue states together in recognition of the great American spirit and the rich values we each choose to hold precious.
Regardless of your political persuasion, whether you live in a red or blue state, we invite everyone to join us, to participate in any way possible in this grand tribute to the brave service men and women and their families. Come to the festivities and assist us in demonstrating that the price paid by these men and women ultimately results in elevating our country to a grander vision. Only through your participation, support and generous donations will this tribute be worthy of the people it honors.
For the troops. For their families. For the country.
